Meet Allison: Learning Partner Q&A!

Allison has been with Bansho since September 2020. You may recognize her from her elementary science Bansho lessons! Let’s learn more about Allison with a fun Q and A!

We are pretty confident when we say our learning partners are the best! No, really! If we could shout it from the rooftops, we would, but that would be pretty strange. Instead, we thought we would introduce our fantastic learning partners to you to see firsthand just how awesome they truly are!

Let’s go ahead and give a big hello to our first featured Learning Partner, Allison!

Tell us a little bit about your background as an educator:

I have been in education for almost six years now. I began my career teaching science and STEM to grades PreK through 4th grade. I then moved into Education Therapy, where I worked with children with various learning disabilities before making the leap to work in ed. tech with Bansho!

Do you have a philosophy as an educator?

Yes! First and foremost, I want to instill a love of learning in all of my students. That’s not always easy, and how students get there isn’t the same, but I want my student to love learning and have a quest for knowledge!

1-2What were you like as a student?

My journey as a student has changed and transformed throughout the years, which I think is terrific. One thing that has stayed consistent is I was always an active participant in the class. My teachers probably got annoyed with how much I raised my hand. And no, I definitely did not always have the correct answer or maybe even know the right answer, but I tried!

What do you enjoy most about being a learning partner?

I love that I can build one-on-one relationships with my students. Children, especially in the age of COVID, do not always receive that individualized time and attention from their teacher. Children love that for 30 minutes or more it is all about them! There is something really special about being able to do that for a child.

If you could take the students on a field trip anywhere, where would you take them?

In true Ms. Frizzle fashion, I would probably take my students to the moon for a lesson on gravity!

What were your favorites, when you were a kid?

  • 2-2School Subject: Writing
  • Book: Madeline
  • TV Show: Rugrats
  • Hobby: Creative Writing
  • Animal: Dolphin
  • What did you want to be when you grew up? A Zoologist!

We hope you enjoyed getting to know a little more about Allison! Stay tuned to meet our next featured Learning Partner!
